A series of five public lectures running from April to September

The Monash Law School Deans Lecture Series provides a range of lecture on current legal issues from leading Monash Law School academics and the Monash Law Students' Society. The lectures are held at the Monash University Law Chambers in Bourke Street, Melbourne and are open to legal practitioners, students and the general public.

Presenter: Professor Justin Malbon
Professor Malbon practiced as a Barrister and Solicitor in South Australia for a number of years. He is a former Principal Assistant Parliamentary Counsel, Queensland Office of Parliamentary Counsel; Assistant Divisional Head (Legislation) Division of Aboriginal and Islander Affairs; Research Manager, Blake Dawson, and is a former Dean of the Griffith University Law School. He has published several books including Australian Export: A guide to law and practice and Understanding Global TV Format.

Law Students' Society Lecture

Family Violence

Presenter: Ms Catherine Lamble, Magistrate
Ms Catherine Lamble is the Supervising Magistrate for the family violence and family law jurisdiction in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria. Catherine has many years of involvement in the family violence jurisdiction. In 2008, she led the Court's implementation of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008. Between 2005 and 2007, she was the lead Magistrate at one of Victoria's first specialist 'family violence courts' at Heidelberg Magistrates' Court. Catherine has been a  Magistrate for 13 years. Previously she has worked for the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, Victoria Legal Aid and a variety of tribunals.

457 Visas and Labour Standards

Presenter: Marilyn Pittard
Professor Pittard, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Studies) and formerly Associate Dean (Research), teaches workplace and employment law in the postgraduate program. Her extensive labour law publications include co - authored books Public Sector Employment in the Twenty - First Century; Industrial Relations in Australia: Development Law and Operation; and editions of Australian Labour Law: Cases and Materials. She is editorial board member of Australian Journal of Labour Law, editor of Employment Law Bulletin, and board member of numerous professional law organisations, including the Australian Labour Law Association.

Enforcement of Continuous Disclosure Breaches

Presenter: Elizabeth Boros
Professor Boros holds the Sir Keith Aickin Chair of Company Law and teaches Corporations Law, Corporate Governance and Shareholders' Remedies. She is the author of Minority Shareholders Remedies and co - author of Corporate Law. Elizabeth graduated from Adelaide University with first class honours and gained her LLM and PhD degrees from Cambridge University. She is a consultant to Blake Dawson and a member of the Legal Committee of CAMAC.

Suicide and Personal Litigation

Presenter: Professor Ian Freckelton
Professor Freckelton is a Senior Counsel practising full - time from Crockett Chambers in personal injury matters, administrative law and criminal law at both trial and appellate level. He is the president of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and Law (Vic Branch) and Vice - President of the International Academy of Law and Psychiatry (Australasian Branch), as well as a member of the Mental Health Review Board. He is currently a Professor at Monash Law School teaching Expert Evidence and Health Law and Human Rights. Professor Freckelton is also the editor of Journal of Law and Medicine.
