Professor Professional ProfileStephen Barkoczy is a Professor of Law in the Faculty of Law and a Consultant with Blake Dawson. Stephen lectures widely in the area of taxation law and has held positions as Chairman of the Law Institute of Victoria's Tax and Revenue Committee and Principal Examiner of its Tax Law Specialisation Program. He has also been a member of the Advisory Panel to the Board of Taxation and has consulted to government departments, including the Australian Taxation Office. Stephen has provided expert testimony before statutory boards and a parliamentary inquiry on venture capital programs and he recently co-authored a report, funded by an ARC research grant, for the Department of Industry Tourism and Resources, entitled Venture Capital Tax Expenditure Programs - An International Comparative Analysis of Legal Structures and Benefits. Stephen has published widely in Australian and international journals and has presented many papers at academic and professional conferences. He is a former editor of the Journal of Australian Taxation and the author/co-author of over 30 editions of five books (Australian Taxation Law, Government Venture Capital Incentives, Pooled Development Funds Handbook, Core Tax Legislation and Study Guide, and the Australian Tax Casebook ).
